This permit allows collection, possession and transportation of Papio ursinus (chacma baboon) urine samples outlined on cites permit issued under reference no ZA-CITES-P-000055225, for the purpose of bona fide research subjected to the provisions and regulations of the following laws:
a) The National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998)
b) The National Environment Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004 (Act No. 10 of 2004)
c) The National Environment Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act No. 57 of 2003)
d) The Prevention of Pollution from Ships Act, 1986 (Act No. 2 of 1986)
e) The National Environment Management: Integrated Coastal Management Act, 2008 (Act No. 24 of 2008)
f) Any other relevant law

This permit allows collection, possession and transportation of of Papio ursinus (chacma baboon) samples for the purpose of research. Standard permit conditions and sample types are outlined in The CITES Permit issued by Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment under reference number ZA-CITES-P-000055225.
This permit is intended to facilitate bona fide research and should not be used for the purposes of financial gain by the permit holder. Exact species covered by the collection permit outline in CITES permit number ZA-CITES-P-000055225

Scientific investigation or practical experiment which includes the collection, possession and transportation of of Papio ursinus (chacma baboon) samples outlined on cites permit issued under reference no ZA-CITES-P-000055225.
The summary of the research findings and outcomes including the dates, locations, species and quantities collected should be submitted to the Issuing Authority.
No specimens should be used in any other bioprospecting context.
Should the research lead to any bioprospecting concept or development, the permit holder/researcher must engage with the South African National Focal Point to ensure alignment with national legislation governing indigenous biological resources and bioprospecting.
The summary of the research findings and outcomes including the dates, locations, species and quantities collected should be submitted to the Issuing Authority.
No specimens should be used in any other bioprospecting context.
Should the research lead to any bioprospecting concept or development, the permit holder/researcher must engage with the South African National Focal Point to ensure alignment with national legislation governing indigenous biological resources and bioprospecting.
Species samples collected in terms of this permit shall not be transferred, sold or offered for sale. Kindly refer to CITES permit no ZA-CITES-P-000055225 for complete permit conditions.
