Pacific Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS): Implementation Guidelines (May 2022)
The Pacific Regional Guidelines aim to help countries develop domestic-level compliance mechanisms. The capacity building and awareness-raising work of the ABS Regional project in the Pacific has resulted in ten countries becoming Parties
to the Nagoya Protocol. However, significant challenges remain in implementing compliance mechanisms under the Protocol. The guidelines are specifically drafted to assist Pacific island countries in the implementation of the Protocol.

Lessons from the Pacific : Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the fair equitable Sharing Benefits Arising from their Utilization (May 2022)
The lessons learned over 10 years by SPREP and the ABS Initiative highlight significant implementation gaps in the Nagoya Protocol. There are incomplete legal and policy frameworks on ABS, limited or lack of monitoring and compliance mechanisms and limited reporting to the ABSCH.
