The modules present in a step-by-step manner the provisions of the Protocol, possible policy options for their implementation and practical examples of measures taken by countries. They are designed for learners to build a strong foundation of knowledge on the core concepts related to the Protocol and its implementation. The modules also include a quiz to review the information learned and additional available resources for consultation. Eight (8) e-learning modules are available covering the following themes:

The modules are available on the CBD e-learning platform in English, French and Spanish and are currently being translated into Russian.
The modules were developed by IDLO and SCBD, with funding from the Japan Biodiversity Fund, as training materials for the Capacity-building Programme to Support the Establishment of Legal Frameworks for the Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol in 2015-2016.
