CÓDIGO ORGÁNICO DE LA ECONOMÍA SOCIAL DE LOS CONOCIMIENTOS, CREATIVIDAD E INNOVACIÓN
El Código Orgánico de la Economía Social de los Conocimientos, Creatividad e Innovación tiene por objeto normar el Sistema Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología, Innovación y Saberes Ancestrales previsto en la Constitución de la República del Ecuador y su articulación principalmente con el Sistema Nacional de Educación, el Sistema de Educación Superior y el Sistema Nacional de Cultura, con la finalidad de establecer un marco legal en el que se estructure la economía social de los conocimientos, la creatividad y la innovación. Se rigen por el presente Código todas las personas naturales, jurídicas y demás formas asociativas que desarrollen actividades relacionadas a la economía social de los conocimientos, la creatividad y la innovación.

    El Código Orgánico del Ambiente tiene por objeto garantizar el derecho de las personas a vivir en un ambiente sano y ecológicamente equilibrado, así como proteger los derechos de la naturaleza para la realización del buen vivir o sumak kawsay.

    Las disposiciones de este Código regularán los derechos, deberes y garantías ambientales contenidos en la Constitución, así como los instrumentos que fortalecen su ejercicio, los que deberán asegurar la sostenibilidad, conservación, protección y restauración del ambiente, sin perjuicio de lo que establezcan otras leyes sobre la materia que garanticen los mismos fines.  


    Las normas contenidas en este Código, así como las reglamentarias y demás disposiciones técnicas vinculadas a esta materia, son de cumplimiento obligatorio para todas las entidades, organismos y dependencias que comprenden el sector público, personas naturales y jurídicas, comunas, comunidades, pueblos, nacionalidades y colectivos, que se encuentren permanente o temporalmente en el territorio nacional.

Las normas para el acceso a los recursos biológicos y/o genéticos con fines de investigación o fines comerciales asociados o no a  conocimientos tradicionales en el país.
