The Collaborative Research Agreement, dated 19 August 2025, was concluded between the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System and the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI), Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Lao PDR.
Twenty samples of fermented foods (beans; fish and shellfish; grains; fruits and vegetables; meat; drinks and beverages; and rice) were collected from private households and local markets in Lao PDR.

1. The applicant is required to share the research results and related publications with the local project partners and the Lao ABS authority to ensure proper acknowledgment of the resource providers.
2. This permission is granted solely for the specific research mentioned above.
3. If further experiments on the resources or their digital sequence information are intended for commercialization purposes, Tokai National Higher Education and Research System, Nagoya University, Japan, must inform the ABS authority and the local partner in order to establish a new ABS agreement.
4. The applicant is required to acknowledge the country of origin of the genetic resources when generating or using digital sequence information (DSI) derived from those resources.
The collected samples of fermented foods mentioned above are not allowed to be shared with any third party without permission from the Lao ABS authority and the implementing partner in Lao PDR.
Samples of fermented foods (beans, fish and shellfish, grains, fruits and vegetables, meat, drinks and beverages, and rice) will be analyzed at the Molecular Laboratory of the Genetic Resource Division, National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI), Lao PDR, to isolate bacteria and fungi useful for fermentation. These microorganisms may be utilized as genetic resources to support the production of safe fermented foods through biochemical and technical analyses.
