A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, National University of Laos, and the Department of Biological Science, Faculty of Life Science and Biotechnology, Fukuyama University, Japan, on 08 December 2024.
A Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) was signed between the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, National University of Laos, Lao Agro Organic Industries Limited, and the Department of Biological Science, Faculty of Life Science and Biotechnology, Fukuyama University, Japan, on 01 December 2025.
A total of 48 wild yeast samples were collected from flowers growing in Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang District, and Pakse District, Lao PDR.

1. The applicant is required to share the research results and related publications with the local project partners and the Lao ABS Authority, in acknowledgment of the providers of the genetic resources.
2. This permission is granted solely for the specific research described above.
3. Should any further experiments involving the genetic resources or their digital sequence information be intended for commercialization, the Department of Biological Science, Faculty of Life Science and Biotechnology, Fukuyama University, Japan, must notify the Lao ABS Authority and the local partner in order to establish a new ABS Agreement.
4. The applicant is required to acknowledge the country of origin of the genetic resources when generating or using digital sequence information (DSI) derived from those resources.
The wild yeast samples collected as mentioned above shall not be transferred to any third party without prior permission from the Lao ABS Authority and the local implementing partner in Lao PDR.
The wild yeast samples will be exported from Laos to the Department of Biological Science, Faculty of Life Science and Biotechnology, Fukuyama University, 985-1 Sanzo, Higashimura-cho, Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, for the identification of yeast strains through analysis of ribosomal DNA sequences and assessment of their alcohol fermentation ability.
