The Material Transfer Agreement was signed on 16 September 2025 between the Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL), the Ministry of Health of the Lao PDR, and Mahasarakham University, Thailand.
Freshwater snails (Bithynia siamensis) were collected from 12 villages in Khong and Mounlapamok Districts, Champasak Province, Lao PDR

- The applicant is required to share the research results and related publications with the local project partners and the Lao ABS authority to properly acknowledge the resource providers.
- This permission is granted for the specific research mentioned above only.
- If further experiments on the resources or their digital sequence information are intended for commercialization purposes, Mahasarakham University, Thailand, must inform the ABS authority and the local partner to establish a new ABS agreement.
- The applicant is required to acknowledge the country of origin of the genetic resources when generating or using digital sequence information (DSI) derived from those resources.
The collected samples mentioned above are not allowed to be shared with any third party without permission from the Lao ABS authority and the Institut Pasteur du Laos.
Approximately 30 samples of freshwater snails (Bithynia siamensis), preserved in 80% ethanol, will be exported from the Lao PDR to Mahasarakham University, Thailand, for an observational study of snail morphology using a scanning electron microscope.
