A capacity building and awareness program was conducted at a national and regional level to relavent stakeholders during the consultation workshops for the preparation of the first National Report for the Nagoya Protocol

As part of the larger consultation and validation for the preparation of the First National Report on the Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol, an awareness programme was conducted for the wider stakeholders at the national and subnational level. Two objectives were achieved through this innitiative: Consultation and validation of the report, creating awereness on on the Nagoya Protocol and ABS innitiatives in Bhutan

  • GBF-T13. Fair and equitable sharing of benefits from genetic resources, digital sequence information and associated traditional knowledge
  • GBF-T20. Capacity-building and development, technology transfer, and technical and scientific cooperation for implementation is strengthened
  • 1.2 Raising awareness of the importance of GR and TK, and related ABS issues
  • 1.3 Mapping of relevant actors, including other relevant international instruments on ABS, and existing expertise for the implementation of the Protocol
  • 1.5 Establishing mechanisms for domestic interagency coordination
  • 1.7 Developing mechanisms to monitor the utilization of genetic resources, including the designation of checkpoints
