This paper has been produced as part of ongoing research and published in the CISDL working paper series. The paper provides a general overview of the two different legal systems for the incorporation of international law in national or domestic orders (monist and dualist regimes) as well as an analysis of IT MLS most relevant aspects of the IT in the light of the doctrine and jurisprudence on the self-executing provisions in international law. Introductory remarks on the implications of the CBD/NP regimes for the IT implementation is presented with the purpose to clarify the legal space provided by the NP. Finally, some conclusions and recommendations are highlighted.
