The IRCChas a lookup field: Reference number(s) of the internationally recognized certificate(s) of compliance that relate(s) to this permit. Since the form being compiled will become an IRCC not a permit this wording in itself is a little confusing. What is the field for (I do not recall it being there in earlier versions). Is it to address the Issue of updating an IRCC and maintaining a link to the earlier version? If so, we may need to review the implementation; if not, I think we need this feature so still need to review the implementation.

HI Chris. The field is meant to provide the possibility of linking a new IRCC to a previous IRCC. Sometimes a permit can be related to other previously issued permits, for instance to a permit for accessing a soil sample. Depending on the MAT, it is possible that some countries decide to issue specific permits for subsequently identified genetic resources from the taken soil sample. For such cases, the ABS Clearing-House offers the possibility to link different IRCCs together. IRCCs linked through this mechanism will be displayed together and thus facilitate tracking of the IRCCs. FYI we are in the process of adding this kind of information as online help for filling the form. Does this answers your question?

Hi Beatriz,
Thanks for the explanation - good that you adding the online help, which will be of considerable assistance. Perhaps the title of the field might be changed slightly to "Reference number(s) of OTHER internationally recognized certificate(s) of compliance that relate(s) to this permit". As I recall from discussions at the last IAC we saw the possibility of an IRCC being emended, in which case the new IRCC would be linked to the old one, which would then be retired (although linked). This would trigger a notification to the user that the change had been made. A search of the ABSCH for the original IRCC would find both the old and the new. This facility does not seem to be covered by what you explain (and I think is still absent from the form).

I take note of the drafting suggestion. Please try to edit an already published IRCC, you will see there the possibilities for amendments and how the IRCC history is reflected in the display of the record. An please let us know your comments!
Hi Beatriz,
There is a bug prefventing me from referring to an existing IRCC from a new IRCC or CPC form. I reported this a couple of days ago, and now that I have created an IRCC I can see that it is not due to there being none to refer to.
