Sample Size and Use: The export must be limited strictly to the quantities and sample types specified on the permit. The samples may only be used for the noncommercial research purposes described in the approved research proposal and supporting documentation. Legal Compliance: The applicant must comply with all applicable veterinary, biosecurity, and export requirements, including any disease control measures prescribed by the Directorate of Animal Health and any relevant national or international regulations governing the movement of biological material.

aegyptiacus) samples for the purpose of research subject to the provisions and regulations of the
following laws:
a) The National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998)
b) The National Environment Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004 (Act No. 10 of 2004)
c) The National Environment Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act No. 57 of 2003)
d) The National Environment Management: Integrated Coastal Management Act, 2008 (Act No. 24 of
2008)
e) Any other relevant law

Scientific investigation or practical experiment which includes the collection, possession, transportation &/ exportation of Chiroptera (Rousettus aegyptiacus) samples as outlined on permit 202606000037585 issued by Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism research purposes. The research project is a collaboration between University of Pretoria and the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute in Germany.

The summary of the research findings and outcomes including the dates, locations, species and quantities collected should be submitted to the Issuing Authority. No specimens should be used in any other bioprospecting context. Should the research results in bioprospecting prospects, the permit holder should notify the South African focal point for ABS.
Species collected in terms of this permit shall not be sold or offered for sale.
Samples of Chiroptera (Rousettus aegyptiacus) are to be exported to Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute in Germany for research purposes. The primary lead of the German research group is Prof. Anca Dorhoi (Institute of Immunology).
