Permission is hereby granted to the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital-Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU) at Mahosot Hospital, Lao PDR represented by Dr. Manivanh Vongsouvath, Director of Microbiology, and Dr. Elizabeth Ashley, Director of LOMWRU to access and utilize human biological specimens (specifically aliquots of blood and oropharyngeal swab samples).
The samples will be used for research conducted under the project entitled 'A prospective study of the cause of fever amongst hospitalized patients in Lao PDR.'

- The applicant is required to share all research findings and subsequent publications with local project partners and the Lao Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) Authority, ensuring due acknowledgment of the providers of the genetic resources.
- This permission is granted exclusively for the research project specified herein and shall not be construed as authorization or consent for any other research, commercial application, or unauthorized use.
- Should any further research, development, or utilization of the genetic resources or derived Digital Sequence Information (DSI) be intended for commercial application, Africa Health Research Institute NPC shall promptly notify the Lao ABS Authority and local project partners prior to commercial use to negotiate a separate Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) agreement pursuant to the relevant laws and regulations of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
- The applicant shall explicitly cite the Lao People's Democratic Republic as the country of origin of the genetic resources in any publications, database submissions, or downstream outputs resulting from the utilization of said genetic resources or any derived Digital Sequence Information (DSI).
The collected samples including any derived genetic material or digital sequence information (DSI) shall not be transferred, shared, or made accessible to any third party without express prior written approval from the resource provider and the Lao Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) Authority.
The specimen transfer is to conduct virological, serological, and sequencing analyses related to dengue virus (including isolation, sequencing, and a focus reduction neutralization test).
