    Los objetivos de la Ley de Áreas Protegidas son

    2. Lograr la conservación de la diversidad biológica del país.
    3. Alcanzar la capacidad de una utilización sostenida de las especies y ecosistemas en todo el territorio nacional.
    4. Defender y preservar el patrimonio natural de la Nación.
    5. Establecer las áreas protegidas necesarias en el territorio nacional con carácter de utilidad pública e interés social.
  • ABSCH-MSR-GT-206789-1 Legislative, Administrative or Policy Measure Establishment of the Institutional Technical Unit from National Council of Protected Areas to support the management of access to genetic resources

    This is a measurement to conform the Institutional Technical Unit from the National Council of Protected  Areas to support the managment of access to genetic resources. This technical unit have some functions such as:

    -Identify and promote mechanisms for the development of institutional capacities for institutional access management.

    -Promote the integration of an institutional body for the development of individual access policies, including defining future characteristics of processes and access events

    -Establishment of the minimum conditions to begin a process of access, and the characteristics of each stage of the process for approval

    -Receive, evaluate and accept applications or access projects

    -Issue a certificate of having fulfilled the established processes for access

    -Monitor and control the phases or stages of access

Summary of ABS Responsibilities
Responsible for all genetic resources. Only designated competent national authority (CNA) for the country.
