Operationalization of the ABS Clearing-House in the six official languages of the United Nations

Dear IAC experts,

We have proposed a step-by-step approach for advancing the translation of the website, starting with those components for which (a) more experience and feedback has been gathered and (b) stability in terms of their content, design and functioning can be better ensured.  In this regard, the Secretariat suggested to proceed with translation of the different ABS Clearing-House components in the following order:

1. Common formats for national records:
   a) Competent National Authority;
   b) Legislative, administrative or policy measures on access and benefit-sharing;
   c) Interim national report;
   d) Checkpoint;
   e) Information on permits or its equivalent constituting an internationally recognized certificate of compliance;
   f) Information for the checkpoint communique;
   g) National website or database.

2. Web pages:
   a) Homepage;
   b) Find information section;
   c) Country profile section;
   d) Submit information section;
   e) Help section.

3. Common formats for reference records:
   a) Model contractual clauses, codes of conduct, guidelines and best practices (Article 19 and 20);
   b) Community protocols and procedures and customary laws;
   c) Virtual library and capacity-building resources;
   d) Capacity-building and development initiatives (activity/project/programme).

Please provide any feedback on the priorities for translation proposed by the Secretariat, as necessary, by 30 November 2015.
