Checkpoint Responsibilities
The field of jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Welfare is "Pathogen resource in accordance with the Act on the Promotion of Collection, Management, and Utilization of Pathogen Resources".
<Duties of the National Checkpoint>
Article 13 (2) of the Act on Access to and Utilization of Genetic Resources and Benefit-Sharing prescribes the duties of the head of the National Checkpoint as follows:
  1. Processing procedural compliance reporting in accordance with Article 15 of the Act;
  2. Monitoring and recommending procedural compliance Article 16 of the Act;
  3. Supporting persons who utilize foreign genetic resource(s) domestically.

<Delegation of Authority>
In accordance with Article 13 (4) 2 of the Enforcement Decree, the Minister of Health and Welfare, as the head of the National Checkpoint, delegates authority over the following matters, to the Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in accordance with Article 23 (1) of the Act:
  1. Processing procedural compliance reporting under Article 15 of the Act;
  2. Investigating and recommending procedural compliance under Article 16 of the Act.
